Seamless Teddies

I am now ready to share my latest gift project after exactly 2 months of on/off crocheting during my free time. In between, I could not help but got distracted by creating other crochet gift projects (Birthday ideas..). I have finally made enough in numbers ready to be given out as gifts for this Upcoming Children’s season. Credit given to crochet pattern by Elena’s Times-Crochet One-piece Toys Patterns.

Let’s meet ….

Mr Grey

How I love his squinted eye look. Just so adorable…

Miss Cream

Sweet looking little girl nestled in my palm…

Alas comes Mr Brown

He reminds me so much of my cuddly softie from the LINE Series also called Brown..

These little teddies were made in amigurumi crochet technique using single crochet stitches done in rounds. But what actually appealed to me when I was researching online for my next crochet gift project was that this particular pattern calls for no joints sewing.

Arms and Legs were made separately and crochet in when it was time to work on the Body..

The little teddies were actually made as One piece unlike previous teddy crochet patterns that I have worked on. Most crochet toy patterns require arms, ears, tail and legs to be separately sewn onto the main body and head after its parts have all been made. This actually takes up more time and requires the added skill of eyeballing and pinning things in place well before sewing everything together to get that ideal finishing look.

Stuffings were added along the way…

These teddies were made up pretty fast. Took me approximately 3 hours each if I constantly worked on it with no distractions (somehow chores would be calling out to me .. or some other crazy crochet ideas creeps up into my mind).

The completed teddy measures up to 6 inches tall when completed. I suppose the teddy size would be different with thicker yarns and if worked on a bigger crochet hook size. They may be small but it does not make them easier to work on. They require more nimble and agile hands as they are worked in tighter stitches and smaller spaces to fill with stuffing. Additional tools like stuffing sticks, stitch round counter and markers were helpful when I was working on this project. I did also have to make modifications along the way as I was working through the crochet pattern to get the little teddies to be made up the way I wanted them to look ( squinted eyes placements instead of usual well spaced eye placements)

And she sits firmly on her own without any back support…
