EOY 2020- Meowkiki the あみねこ

The month of November is dedicated to the creation of Meowkiki the あみねこ. He is one handsome streaky looking cat. At times, he may be mistaken as a Panther or a Tiger but be rest assured that he is never mean or vicious. He does not have prickly whiskers but only embroidered french knot ones.

Meowkiki was created based on a design from Lilleliis with some minor modifications made to the pattern.

In general, I prefer to work on Amigurumi toys with as minimal seam joinings required as much as possible. This not only makes working on the Amigurumi toy shaping a continuous process without having to fasten and restart on another piece but also makes the whole Amigurumi Toy more sturdy to withstand longer hours of play.

Unlike Cats that I have adopted from street markets when I was younger, Meowkiki has many positive characteristics. He does not shed fur. He was made from Soft Cotton multitone blended yarn and filled with hypoallergenic polyester fillings. The multitone coloured yarn gives him his streaky looks and his fillings makes him more appealing to Others. Meowkiki will not forsake me for Sardines or Salmon.

He needs minimal care. There will be no fishy business involved for sure. All he needs is lots of hugs and companionship as he is so cuddly and irresistibly good looking.

Meowkiki has been a good companion to me during the process of his creation. It was a long and slow crochet process working on the various coloured versions of Meowkiki. Meowkiki in Ginger yellow, in ever so soothing Blue and in Cappucino Brown that reminds me of coffee.

I hope this EOY 2020, will be just like all my previous EOY gift projects I have worked on. May all the Children enjoy Meowkiki the あみねこ curling up in their arms. May Meowkiki who silently keeps them company be able to fill their hearts with all the Love that he was handmade with. May he be able to soothe their fears and chase away their scary dreams.
